Course outline and obtaining the permit
Programs
We provide three comprehensive Class A programs—Parking, Driving, and Classroom—to prepare you for the test. Our Class B program, without trailer parking, ensures a quicker completion.

Range Lessons
- Range - Pre trip inspection - complete truck inspection including lights, brakes, tires, fuel/def tanks, fifth wheel, and more.
- Range - In-cab inspection - complete in-cab including dash, windshield and wipers, emergency equipment, and more.
- Range - Air brakes - pressurizing system, applied leakage test, low pressure warning, spring brake popout, governer cut-out, governer cut-in, emergency brake test, parking brake test, service
Driving Lessons
- ELDT training, HAZMAT training, logbook training, map training, driving lessons, stop signs etc.
Obtaining the permit
To ensure a smooth process, gather the following documents: Social Security card, legal paperwork (green card, passport, or birth certificate), and two bills/registrations displaying your name and address.
Next steps:
- Download the DMV Commercial Driver Handbook or grab a copy at the DMV.
- Install the CDL Prep 2023 (RED ICON) and DMV Genie apps on your phone.
- Read the handbook thoroughly, focusing on General, Air Brakes, and Combination Vehicles sections.
- Practice tests for General, Air Brakes, and Combination Vehicles (excluding combination vehicle for Class B). Aim for a 90% score before visiting the DMV.
- Keep in mind, you'll need to take the Class C written test.
- Prior to your DMV visit, complete a DOT medical exam.
